KYOKO SEKINE - HOTEL JOURNALIST

香港には年に何度か足を運んでいますが、
今回も5月11日～16日まで滞在、行く度にホテルが誕生し､
行く度に何かしら国際的なイベントが開かれている現実は、
さすがに‘国際都市’としか言いようがありません。

今回は、5泊5軒のホテルに泊まりました。
そのうち3軒はオープンしたばかりのNEWホテル！
個性的で機能的、中には？？なものもありますが、
チープなホテルでもクオリティは随分良くなっている・・・。

そんな香港では､ホテルがとても個性的なことに驚きます。
たとえ国際的なチェーンホテルでも､他とは違う個性を発揮していて、
訪れる楽しみは大きく、毎回ワクワクするのです。

New Stylish Hotels Are Popping Up–Honk Kong’s Great!

I visit Hong Kong several times in a year.
On this occasion I visited there from 11th to 16th May.
Each time I drop across, I see new hotels are popping up and some international
Events are taking place there.
Hong Kong is what we call “cosmopolitan city”.

On this 6-day trip, I stayed different 5 hotels on each night.
The three hotels among them were newly launched!

They were unique and functional though some hotels were odd and even　budget hotels have improved the quality much better.
Such Hong Kong has very unique hotels and that’s amazing to me.

Even if they are international chains, in Hong Kong they show their uniqueness different from other locations. That’s why every time I’m excited to visit Hong Kong looking for surprises.

5月18日、予てから依頼を受けていた講演会が開催されました。
三重県四日市「中日文化センター」主催の
こじんまりとした｢特別講演会｣でした。

話題は「とっておきの世界ホテル」、
旅をするとき、優雅な時間を過ごしたいとき、
ホテルは大切なアイテムの一つ・・・と謳ったパンフレットが作られ、
中日新聞にも募集がありました。

1時間半の話に、99％女性だった聴講者の皆様は
熱心に聞き入ってくださいました。
どこにいても、女性は積極的な行動派です！

Lecture about Hotel

On 18th May, I had the lecture event that had already been asked some time ago.
At Yokkaichi city, Mie Prefecture, Chunichi Culture Center hosted the small “Special Lecture”.

The theme was “The heartful hotels around the world”.
The host made the brochure saying “Hotel is one of the precious items when you travel or you want to spend time in a gracious way…”
Also Chunichi Shimbun newspaper noticed the lecture.

Almost all of the audience was women and they listened intently to the lecture.
Women are active anywhere in the world!

山好きの私でも、葉山、逗子、鎌倉辺りの海は
とても好きで､よくドライブがてら遊びに行きます。
でも、今回は別荘暮らしのつもりで
｢海辺の一軒家｣に滞在しました。

余りの素敵さに､こんなところに住んでみたい･･･と思ったほど。

場所は佐島の海岸、窓の大きな家は白い別荘、
「Nowhere Resort」が､1週間単位で貸し出している
海辺の別荘の一つです。

用意されているのは
オーガニックの野菜、焼き立てパン、摘み立ての苺やサラダ菜、
食事はお洒落なキッチンで作っても、
海の幸を出してくれる近くの食堂に行ってもいい。
あ～、帰りたくなかった！！

My Dream Holiday House–a Seaside House–

Even though I love mountains, I often go out for a short trip to the seaside of Hayama, Zushi and Kamakura by driving a car, as I like the places so much.
But this time I stayed a “Seaside House” as if I had lived in my holiday house.

It was really fantastic that I felt I’d love to live in the places like that.

The white holiday house with its large windows sits on the seaside of Sajima.
Actually it’s one of the holiday houses that Nowhere Resort rent on a weekly basis.

They offer organic vegetables, fresh breads, fresh-picked strawberries and butter lettuces.
Also you can cook your meals yourself at the stylish kitchen　or you can go to the restaurants neighborhood that serve seafood dishes.

Oh, I would have stayed there forever if it had been MY holiday house!!

やっと1歳の猫、ピーちゃんはいつもなぜか腕を組んでいます。
泣かないし、気品たっぷりの血統書付き、美猫です。
これって「伯母バカ」でしょうか。

2013年4月某日

今年も恒例となった新宿御苑でのお花見をしました。
御苑は家から歩いて10分の距離にあり、
何かにつけて御苑に行くために、年間パスポートも買っています。

中でも花見の時期は、御苑が最も賑わう季節。

お酒とタバコとカラオケ、動物が禁じられているため、
ワイワイがやがやしながらも、何となく静かな花見が出来るのです。
だから、御苑が好きです。
それでも内緒でお酒を持ちこんで、乾杯！なんて人も
たまに見かけますが、係員に注意され、仕方なく仕舞っています。

今年の桜もキレイでした！
新宿御苑には、30種もの桜の種類があり、
次々に咲いて、訪れる人を喜ばせてくれています。
満開の桜の花は、どうしてこれほどに私たち日本人を
高揚させ感動させるのでしょうね･･･？

The Japanese Fondness for Cherry Blossoms

After all, when I see cherry blossoms my heart is filled with happiness.

This year, I enjoyed cherry-blossom viewing at Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden
as it’s customary for me every year.
It takes 10 minutes from my house by walk and I often walk around in the garden
so I bought an annual pass as well.

Above all, in the season for cherry-blossom viewing it’s full of people there.

It is prohibited to bring alcohol, tobacco, karaoke and animal into the garden
so people can enjoy somewhat quiet cherry-blossom viewing though it’s still bustling.
That’s why I like Shinjuku Gyoen.
Some people smuggle alcohol into the garden and drink it up,
but officials warn them and people reluctantly stop drinking.

The cherry blossoms were beautiful again this year!
Shinjuku Gyoen has 30 kinds of cherry trees
and they bloom one after another.
It pleases the visitors.
Why do these full-blown cherry blossoms uplift
and move the hearts of the Japanese people so much?
